Thirty Birthdays

Celia attempts to figure out birthdays.

When I was a kid I had a strange idea on how birthdays work. Since I realized that I was turning 6 years old on the 6th September, I figured that my next birthday would be at the 7th September, since I'd turn 7 then.

I actually had the fear of turning over 30, since I wouldn't have any birthdays anymore.

Celia,
Be thankful your parents didn't show you the film adaption of Logan's Run when you were six and claim it was an educational video.

How Many Birthdays?

Rags from Illinois tells this tale of a confused birthday party:

My birthday is October 27th. When I was a child, my mom would have our extended family over for a party on my actual birthday and would then follow it up with a Halloween-themed party for my friends on October 31st. This led me to believe I had two birthdays - the 27th and the 31st.

When people asked me how I had two birthdays, I said, "My head came out on the 27th and my body came out on the 31st." And I totally believed that logical explanation.

Holiday Birthdays

From the anonymous bin:

I was born on Valentine's Day. Given that my birthday was a holiday, I naturally assumed that everyone else was born on a holiday.

Whenever I met someone I would ask them what holiday their birthday was on and I would be genuinely confused when they told me some random day that wasn't a holiday. I believed that people were only born on a legitimate holiday like Halloween or Christmas.

Now my six year old tries to keep track of upcoming holidays throughout they year (because holiday=candy) and he always refers to his birthday as a holiday. Regardless of the fact that others across the nation do not celebrate on that day.
